I found this map of New Trier Township in 1850 on the Wilmette Historical Museum website while searching Taylor's Pier. The box in the lower section is the Ouilmette Reservation and the boundaries are 15th St, Elmwood Ave, Central St and the Lake. The land that is now Gilson Park did not yet exist. Farms were established west of the ridge, and there were woods and meadows by the lake. There is no town and the German settlers from Trier established St Joseph's Church and School where community life centered around the parish.
